Scabbler
A scabbler is a lightweight pneumatic tool with tungsten-carbide tipped pistons that oscillate in the head to scale, roughen or remove a concrete surface. Vikay supplies scabblers from India in the classes corresponding to Atlas Copco SBL 05, SBL 06 and SBL 06PE and Chicago Pneumatic CP 0006 and CP 0066.
Scabbling prepares concrete rather than breaks it. The carbide-tipped pistons strike the surface at high frequency and remove a controlled depth, which is what is needed to take off laitance and weak surface material, expose sound aggregate for a bond, roughen a slab before an overlay or screed, remove coatings and contamination, and produce anti-slip texture.
Because the tool removes material in a thin, even layer rather than fracturing the slab, it leaves the structure intact, which matters on repairs, bridge decks and floors that stay in service.
The range corresponds to the Atlas Copco SBL 05, SBL 06 and SBL 06PE and the Chicago Pneumatic CP 0006, CP 0006 SVR and CP 0066, with the Vikay VK 06 built to interchange with the CP 6 class. Single-head and multi-head configurations cover detail work through to floor areas.
