Coupling Sleeve
A coupling sleeve is the threaded collar that joins two extension drill rods into a continuous string. Vikay supplies coupling sleeves from India in R32, R38, T38 and T45 thread forms, plus adaptor couplings for joining different thread types.
In extension drilling the sleeve is the weakest point of the string: it transmits every percussion blow and every rotation torque across a threaded joint, and it is where energy is lost and fatigue concentrates. Correct thread match and correct make-up matter more than any other consumable in the string.
Vikay supplies coupling sleeves in R32 under reference 79933644, R38 under 79943655, T38 under 73143355 and T45 under 73153663, in the standard lengths used with extension rods.
An R32 female to R38 male adaptor box is also stocked, for strings that change thread form partway, typically where a smaller shank drill runs into larger rod.
Sleeves interchange with equipment from the major manufacturers, since R and T thread forms are industry standards.
