Rock Drill
A rock drill is a hand-held pneumatic percussive machine that hammers and rotates a drill steel to bore blast holes in rock. Vikay supplies rock drills from India that interchange with Atlas Copco RH, BBC and BBD series and Chicago Pneumatic CP series machines.
Pneumatic rock drills combine percussion, rotation and flushing in one compact tool, which is why they remain the workhorse of underground development and small-scale quarrying. Air drives a piston that strikes the shank of the drill steel thousands of times a minute while a rifle bar indexes the bit between blows and water or air clears cuttings from the hole.
